1/3/2023 0 Comments Gangnam style lyrics koreanThe word "Oppa" at the beginning of the song as well as the beginning of every chorus means "Big Brother," can be used as an informal title meaning "mommy" or "daddy." About halfway through the song he begins saying that he too is a Gangnam man that will play when it's time to play, but will also be calm when it's time to be calm. Throughout the lyrics PSY goes to talk about how he is the right man for the women of this wealthy district. In his lyrics he compares the women in Gangnam to Gangnam itself, noble during the day but crazy going at night. You can comment here or there.Ever wonder what the lyrics of the new sensation that's sweeping the nation, "Gangnam Style," mean? Performing Kpop artist PSY explained that Gangnam is actually a territory in Seoul, South Korea that is noble during the daytime and turns pretty wild as soon as the sun goes down, much like our own Beverly Hills. Originally published at Nicholas Kaufmann. (Also, for fun, here’s an equally hilarious “Gangnam Style” parody by the Oregon Duck.) Still confused? I am! Luckily, there’s a cultural (“Oppa” means older brother!) and geographical (Gangnam is a territory in Seoul!) explanation of the lyrics to be found at Business Insider. On top of the running man is the flying man, baby baby This is what he’s actually singing, translated into English:Ī girl who is warm and humanly during the dayĪ classy girl who know how to enjoy the freedom of a cup of coffeeĪ girl whose heart gets hotter when night comesĪ guy who is as warm as you during the dayĪ guy who one-shots his coffee before it even cools downĪ guy whose heart bursts when night comesĪ girl who looks quiet but plays when she playsĪ girl who puts her hair down when the right time comesĪ girl who covers herself but is more sexy than a girl who bares it allĪ guy who seems calm but plays when he playsĪ guy who goes completely crazy when the right time comesĪ guy who has bulging ideas rather than muscles But I got it in my head that I wanted to know just what Korean pop star PSY was singing about in the recent viral phenomenon “Gangnam Style” (click if you haven’t already seen the hilarious music video), so here it is. We all felt a little disappointed when we learned the English translation of “Du Hast,” or “99 Luftballons,” or, really, any Falco song. There’s a danger in translating foreign language song lyrics into English.
